Zusammenfassung
Glas wird für „textile Zwecke“ bis auf eine Feinheit der Fäden von 0,005 mm (4,5–12 µ) ausgezogen und mit einer Reißlänge von 34–120 Rkm hergestellt und verwebt. Meist werden Glasfasern ungefärbt als Isolationsmaterial, in der Elektrotechnik und als Dekorationsstoffe verwendet. Das spez. Gew. liegt mit 2,48–2,53 sehr hoch. Die Fäden sind nicht brennbar, schmelzen jedoch.
