Zusammenfassung

15 Jahre sind seit Einführung der operativen Behandlung von Mitralstenosen vergangen. Nachdem frühere operative Versuche der zwanziger Jahre ohne positives Ergebnis aufgegeben werden mußten (Nissen, Levine, Irmer et al., Glover u. Davila), konnte sich die Mitralstenosensprengung jetzt dank verbesserter Methoden der Herzchirurgie sehr schnell in allen Teilen der Welt durchsetzen. Die Zahl der bisher durchgeführten Operationen ist nicht mehr zu übersehen.
