Zusammenfassung

Vor 4 Jahren beschrieben Rosen, Castleman und Liebow ein neues Krankheitsbild der Lungen, bei dem es zumeist unter geringen klinischen Symptomen zu einer Ausfüllung großer Alveolarbezirke durch ein eiweißreiches und lipoidhaltiges Exsudat ohne bemerkenswerte entzündliche Veränderungen kommt. Dabei sind zunächst nur kleinere Teile der Lungen betroffen und erst im späteren Verlauf können beide Lungen weitgehend in den Prozeß einbezogen werden. In unterschiedlicher Zeit, zwischen Monaten und bis zu einigen Jahren schwankend, verläuft die Krankheit unter Atemnot, Husten, Kräfteverfall und starker Gewichtsabnahme. In einem Teil der Fälle hat der fortschreitende Prozeß zum Tod geführt, während der größere Teil der Kranken, manchmal bei scheinbarer Besserung, noch am Leben ist.
