Zusammenfassung

Nach einem gern zitierten Wort sollen wir uns Scit einigen Jahren im „goldenen Zeitalter der Polypeptid- und Proteinhormone“ befinden, von dem noch viele Überraschungen zu erwarten sind. Betrachtet man die Ergebnisse der analytischen und synthetischen Proteinchemie, so besteht in der Tat zu Optimismus aller Grund. Die Struktur von Insulin ist weitgehend aufgeklärt, nicht nur die Oligopeptidhormone des Hypophysenhinterlappens (HHL) sind synthetisiert worden, sondern kürzlich auch das in dieser Arbeit besprochene Polypeptidhormon ACTH. Die speciesspezifischen Besonderheiten der großmolekularen Proteinhormone, des gonadotropen Wachstums- und Parathormons sind bekannt, und mit allen Mitteln wird daran gearbeitet, tierisches Ausgangsmaterial auch für die Therapie des Menschen artgleich passend zu machen.
