Zusammenfassung

Durch den Aufschwung der Thoraxchirurgie in den vergangenen 15 Jahren haben vor allem die Lungen- und Mediastinaltumoren breitestes Interesse gefunden, während die Pleura- und Brustwandtumoren von klinischer Seite weniger beachtet wurden. Dies mag daran liegen, daß die Tumoren der Pleura sehr viel seltener sind als blastomatöse Neubildungen der Lunge oder des Mediastinums Sie wurden häufig als Metastasen anderer Organgeschwülste angesehen (Robertson, Willis, Scalfi u.a.) oder galten von vorn herein für inoperabel, was für die fortgeschrittenen Fälle der diffus wachsenden malignen Neubildungen der Pleura an Hand von Sektionsfällen hinreichend belegt zu sein schien.
