Zusammenfassung

Das auffällige Absinken der Operationsmortalität in den letzten 10 Jahren beruht zum großen Teil darauf, daß man den Patienten nicht mehr in dem Zustand operiert, wie er zufällig in die Klinik kommt, sondern daß man grundsätzlich vor der Operation versucht, alle Störungen, die das Risiko des Eingriffs erhöhen, zu beseitigen und einen bestmöglichen Allgemeinzustand zu erreichen.
