Zusammenfassung

Bis vor kurzem waren die angeborenen Mißbildungen des Herzens und der großen Gefäße nur von geringem klinischen Interesse. Das hat sich in wenigen Jahren grundlegend gewandelt, seit Gross 1938 den offenen Ductus arteriosus Botalli, Crafoord 1944 die Isthmusstenose der Aorta und Blalock im gleichen Jahr die Pulmonalstenose zum ersten Male erfolgreich chirurgisch angegangen haben. Durch den plötzlichen Anreiz einer möglich gewordenen Therapie sind jetzt auf dem Gebiet der angeborenen Herzfehler außerordentliche Fortschritte erzielt worden, die der gemeinsamen Arbeit von Anatomen, Physiologen, Internisten und Radiologen einerseits sowie der Chirurgen bzw. Anästhesisten andererseits zu verdanken sind.
