Theodor Curtius wurde am 6. März 1811 zu Lübeck geboren, ein Sohn des im Jahre 1857 hochbetagt daselbst verstorbenen Syndikus Dr. Carl Georg Curtius, dessen Leben und Wirken Senator Dr. Philipp Wilhelm Plessing in einer im Jahre 1860 erschienenen Biographie geschildert hat.
