Zusammenfassung
Obwohl die Nachuntersuchungen von sehr untergewichtigen oder unreif geborenen und „high-risk“-Neugeborenen insgesamt ermutigende Ergebnisse zeigen, wie in den Beiträgen dieses Bandes auch dargestellt wird, sind Ärzte, Pflegepersonal und Entwicklungsneurologen bestrebt, die Situation dieser Kinder nicht nur im Hinblick auf die Techniken der Akutbehandlung, sondern auch unter dem Gesichtspunkt der gesamten psychosozialen Bedingungen, unter denen das Kind wochenlang (oder gar monatelang) behandelt werden muß, zu verbessern. Alle befürchten, daß die lange klinische Behandlung nicht ohne Folgen für die psychische Entwicklung der Kinder bleiben kann.
