Zusammenfassung
Zigarettenrauchen ist eine der bedeutendsten Einzelursachen für vermeidbare Erkrankungen sowie vorzeitige Invalidität und frühzeitigen Tod. Die Entstehung von Herz- und Gefäßerkrankungen wie Herzinfarkt, Schlaganfall und periphere Gefäßerkrankung haben an der durch das Rauchen verursachten vorzeitigen Invalidität und dem frühzeitigen Tod einen bedeutsamen Anteil.
