Das physiologischerweise gering eingeengte Segment zwischen dem Abgang der A. subclavia sinistra und dem Übergang des Aortenbogens in die Aorta descendens in Höhe der Einmündung des Ductus arteriosus wird als „Isthmus“der Aorta bezeichnet.
