Two-Component Transport Properties in Heterogeneous Porous Media

Abstract

Recent developments in the study of porous media (POM) emphasize the correspondence between geometrical features (percolation, aggregates, fractal and, more generally, multiple scale structures) and the physical properties associated with them. This approach makes use of recent cooperative research works undertaken on the physics of disordered media: in particular in France a CNRS research program on MIAM (Milieux Aléatoires Macroscopiques) associates scientists from fundamental and applied research laboratories on comparative studies on electrical and mechanical study of composites, visco-elasticity of gels, concentrated suspensions and transport in POM (porous media), which are essential problems discussed in the present book.
