Abstract

The application and some experimental results of a new method for fetal ECG extraction from abdominal recordings are discussed. It is shown that this new technique offers considerable advantages relative to other techniques. Not only conceptually, but also from a practical point of view. It estimates the fetal equivalent heart dipole vector directly, with an optimal signal to noise ratio, and without introducing any distortion. The method applies the singular value decomposition, rendering it efficient, reliable and accurate.
