Abstract
When the complexity in a chemical system results from the number of molecules or atoms in the system, the determination of the intermolecular interactions becomes of dominant interest. This point has been fully realized since the beginning of quantum chemistry by those researchers who were interested in transport phenomena in the liquid state and, in general, in thermodynamics.
