Summary
The Göttingen Resources Allocation System supports the following functions: requesting, dispatching, delivering and maintaining stock, issuing stock orders and receipting goods. In addition, the system provides the information which is needed for the maintenance of financial and stock records and billing by the accounting department. The types of supplies included are medications, bandaging materials, disposable materials, cleaning and office necessities, as well as some food items. Because such a complex system influences and alters the work routine of many different user groups, it has to be based on a synthesis of their respective needs. The goal was to direct operation, to maintain efficiency records, and to provide head personnel with information for decision-making. The Gottingen Resources Allocation System is part of a comprehensive Hospital Information System. The availability, consolidation and evaluation of an extensive amount of precise data has already made it possible to plan, direct, and control the running of the hospital in a goal-oriented manner.
