Abstract
Much of the effort to define an archetype for artificial intelligence investigations has centered on board games. A significant amount of effort has been spent on chess and on GO. It is here suggested that GO-MOKU might also be an adequate microcosm of intelligent activity. The study of GO-MOKU offers the advantage of simplicity in problem statement along with a solution requiring considerable complexity. GO-MOKU programs have been written at several centers and two tournaments have been held. The results of the last tournament are discussed herein.
