Abstract
The aim of the paper is to construct a formal theory of inference from utterances in the natural language, as applied to dialogues. The basic (fuzzy) concept is that of semantic implication, leading to the development of a motivational calculus. The latter is proved to be consistent. Subsequently, the concepts are applied to the construction of a formal theory of semantics of dialogues by characterization of the ties which must exist between the consecutive expressions.
