Abstract

The primary objective of a regional medical information system based on a central population register has undoubtedly been achieved for the Stockholm County. However, while the inpatient sub-system is about to join the waiting list sub-system in having total geographical coverage, the remaining three sub-systems are effectively subject to a moratorium pending development of significantly improved versions. Even with the inpatient sub-system, the functional coverage would be considerable short of what many would require in a reasonably comprehensive system.
