Zusammenfassung

Elektronenmikroskopie und Histochemie der Muskulatur haben in den letzten Jahren interessante neue Aspekte eröffnet und neue Erkenntnisse vermittelt. Dennoch ist die konventionelle histologische Untersuchung eines exzidierten Muskelstückes mit Hilfe des Lichtmikroskopes auch heute noch die gebräuchlichste morphologische Untersuchungsmethode des Muskelgewebes bei der progressiven Muskeldystrophie und anderen neuromuskulären Erkrankungen. Sie ist ohne großen apparativen Aufwand möglich und vermag nicht selten entscheidend zur Diagnostik beizutragen. Im folgenden beschränke ich mich deshalb ausdrücklich auf diese konventionelle histologische Methodik.
