Zusammenfassung
Die Hygiene des Kraftfahrwesens ist eine der Fragen, die in den letzten Jahrzehnten, als Folge der sich immer mehr entwickelnden modernen Technik, große Bedeutung erlangt hat. Als am Ende des vergangenen Jahrhunderts das Automobil seinen Einzug als ein technisch noch sehr unvollkommenes Fahrzeug hielt, dachte wohl keiner daran, welch ungeheure Umwälzung dies einmal im Verkehrsleben verursachen würde. Hauptsächlich nach dem Kriege erlebte die Fabrikation des inzwischen sehr verbesserten Automobils einen gewaltigen Aufschwung. Nach den Statistiken des Handelsministeriums der Vereinigten Staaten gab es auf der Welt am 31. Dezember 1931 insgesamt 35 058 378 Kraftfahrzeuge, was einem Automobil auf 57 Einwohner entspricht. Hiervon waren 29 083 480 Tourwagen, 358 139 Autoomnibusse und 5 616 759 Frachtwagen.
