Zusammenfassung

Die biologische Sonderstellung des inkretorischen Systems bringt auch gewisse Besonderheiten gegenüber anderen Organsystemen in bezug auf Ätiologie und Pathogenese seiner Störungen mit sich, die es gerechtfertigt erscheinen lassen, sie kurz einer besonderen Betrachtung zu unterziehen. Was zunächst die Ätiologie anlangt, so konkurrieren und interferieren auch hier exo- und endogene Faktoren miteinander in wechselndem Ausmaße, doch stehen in den meisten Fällen die endogenen stärker im Vordergrund, als wir es bei anderen Organsystemen zu sehen gewohnt sind. Traumatische, toxische und infektiöse Schädigungen der Hormonorgane sind uns wohl bekannt, aber nur ausnahmsweise sind sie unter den ätiologischen Momenten der wohl charakterisierten, typischen, mehr oder minder chronisch verlaufenden Erkrankungen dieser Organe festzustellen. Viel häufiger gewinnen wir Anhaltspunkte für die Annahme, daß das erkrankte Hormonorgan schon früher abnorm beschaffen, konstitutionell minderwertig und in besonderem Maße krankheitsbereit gewesen ist. Wir werden im folgenden eingehend auf diese Tatsache zurückkommen.
