Zusammenfassung

Seit den bekannten größeren Debatten (Berlin. med. Ges.) und Referaten (Kaposi) zum Thema Diabetes und Chirurgie in den Jahren 1912–1914 hatte sich bis zum Jahre 1922 Wesentliches in der Stellung des Chirurgen gegenüber dem Diabetes nicht geändert. Die diätetische Therapie erfuhr zwar in der Zwischenzeit einen weiteren Ausbau (Caramelkur Grafe u. a. m.), der sich jedoch für unsere chirurgische Indikationsstellung nicht ausgewirkt hat. Von ausschlaggebender Bedeutung wurde aber für den Internisten wie den Chirurgen in gleichem Maße die Darstellung des von seinen Entdeckern als Insulin bezeichneten Pankreashormons.
