Zusammenfassung
Seitdem Klein (1885)1, Babes (1889), Sörensen (1891), d’Esping und de Marignac (1892), Bergé (1893), Dowson (1893), Fiessinger (1893), Class (1899; zit. nach Page 1), Fischer (1899), Baginsky und Sommerfeld (1900), Hlawa (1902), Menzer (1903), Moser (1902) u. a. m. den Streptococcus als Scharlacherreger erkannt haben, ist durch eine so gut wie lückenlose Beweisreihe die ätiologische Bedeutung dieses Keimes beim Scharlach erhärtet worden. Heute kann ruhig gesagt werden — es gibt nur wenig Keime, deren Erregernatur bei irgendeiner Infektionskrankheit so gut mit den Tatsachen des Experiments, der Klinik, der Therapie u. a. m. belegt wäre, wie das bei dem Scharlach-streptococcus der Fall ist. Dessenungeachtet findet auch heute noch der Scharlachstreptococcus in den meisten einschlägigen Lehr- und Handbüchern eine reservierte Behandlung, und es vergeht kaum ein Jahr, daß nicht ein neuer „Scharlacherreger“ entdeckt wird. Wir sehen uns daher genötigt zum Schluß der vorliegenden Übersicht auch die zahlreichen anderen Auffassungen einer kurzen kritischen Sichtung zu unterziehen.
