Zusammenfassung

Erst neuerdings hat man den physiologischen Störungen, die aus einer Herabsetzung des Blutzuckers resultieren, einige Aufmerksamkeit zugewandt, während man den entgegengesetzten Zustand eines Anstieges auf Grund seines Zusammenhangs mit dem Diabetes als viel bedeutsamer betrachtete. Der erste tatsächliche Beitrag zu diesem Gegenstand wurde von Mann und Magath(1921) geliefert, die zeigten, daß bei einer ausgesprochenen Hypoglykämie charakteristische und tödliche Symptome eintraten. Ihre Arbeit gab in diesem Zusammenhang den Schlüssel für die Erklärung der vermutlich toxischen Symptome ab, die einer Injektion einer großen Menge Insulin folgen. Verschiedene andere Substanzen können, wenn man sie parenteral verabreicht, ebenso eine Blutzuckerherabsetzung verursachen, die aber gewöhnlich so geringgradig ist, daß sie ohne Symptome verläuft.
