Zusammenfassung
Jod ist im Serum des menschlichen und des tierischen Organismus als anorganisches Jodid, als freies organisches Jod und als sog. Hormonjod nachweisbar. Das Hormonjod im weiteren Sinne (das PBI) faßt Thyroxin, Trijodthyronin, Jod-tyrosine und andere organische Jodverbindungen zusammen [4, 8, 9). Die chemische Bestimmung des Jod allein gibt keinen Aufschluß über die Menge und Verteilung von Jodid und Schilddrüsenhormonen. Eine Abgrenzung jodhaltiger Eiweißfraktionen voneinander ist durch die Chromatographie möglich. Die Anwendung von Jod131 oder Jod131-markierten Schilddrüsenhormonen erlaubt darüber hinaus eine Beurteilung der Verteilung derselben sowie des Jodumsatzes im gesamten Organismus (4, 5).
