In August 1980 a national art competition was held, sponsored by the British Migraine Association and WB Pharmaceuticals. Competitors were asked to draw or paint their own impressions of any of the forms of visual disturbance which herald a classic migraine attack or to depict the effect migraine has on their lives. The competition closed on March 1981, and all residents of the British Isles who suffered from migraine were eligible. Nonmigrainous individuals were not permitted to enter.
