Tidal and Storm Deposits, Northwestern Andros Island, Bahamas

  • Conference paper

Abstract

Holocene tidal and storm deposits extend for 160 km along the western shores of Andros Island. The wedge of soft sediments, up to a maximum of 4 meters thick near the shoreline, accumulated in the last 5,000 years, either during or following the rise of sea level to its present position. The area studied is located near Point Simon, lat. 25° N, 78° W (see also Shinn et al., 1969).
