The Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium for one Locus
In 1908, a few years after the rediscovery of Mendel’s laws, the English mathematician Hardy and the German geneticist Weinberg independently demonstrated that populations which fulfil a number of conditions, to be described in this chapter, are in a state of equilibrium with certain simple properties.
