Abstract

Regular postoperative examinations of our patients are of great value not only for the patients themselves but also for the surgeon and his assistants. By a careful follow-up we can correctly evaluate the virtues of the method used, and many mistakes have been recognized in the course of these examinations. The follow-up examination also gives a chance of detecting an imminent nonunion in good time so that it can be promptly treated. This review, however, requires a lot of patience and good organization and involves considerable expense.
