On Some Simplifications in the Description of the Motion of a Soft Soil

  • Chapter

Abstract

The system of equations given in earlier papers [1, 2] to describe the motion of a soft soil is very complicated. But when dealing with various special problems, considerable simplifications of this system may be possible. According to the character of the problem under consideration, it is therefore desirable to determine what simplifications are possible and what simplified system of equations should be used. A full classification of all possible problems for the aforementioned system of equations is given below together with the derivation of simplified systems for each class of problem.
