Abstract
In recent years substantial progress has been made in the synthesis of new infrared dyes of good photochemical stability which exhibit absorption and fluorescence bands beyond 1μm. Infrared dyes with very short ground-state recovery times have been used for switching of Nd-lasers for many years /1,2/. Of special interest is the application of dyes with long fluorescence lifetimes in infrared dye lasers.
