Abstract
Many theories for the occurence of dental caries are based on observations in population groups. Actually is was found that in primitive people often little or no caries is found. When these primitive people follow a more modern way of life then caries usually developes very quickly. The majority of the investigators suppose that the diet must be the main reason for this difference.
