Abstract

In general, cytoplasmic division follows closely after nuclear division. There are, to be sure, numerous cases in which the division of the cytoplasm is delayed or entirely absent, but in the typical case cell division is a unit process, and we may inquire how the individual events are related to one another and how the entire process of division is set in motion.
