Abstract

In this chapter we are going to discuss properties of a channel of the same type as in 5.3, that is, a channel with the character set Sj having more characters than Si. The characters in excess are known, when received, to he invalid and indicate an error of transmission. In this chapter we assume that we have recourse to the source data when an error has been detected.
