Weaning/Liberation from Mechanical Ventilation
Weaning is the process by which a patient is removed from the ventilator. This process has also been referred to as separation, liberation, withdrawal, and divorce from the ventilator, as well as discontinuation of mechanical ventilation. The currently popular term is liberation from mechanical ventilation.
