The cystoscopic procedure

  • Chapter
Endoscopy

Abstract

Cystoscopic examination is one of the most valuable diagnostic procedures in medicine. Without it, the urinary tract is a system of sealed dark passageways and reservoirs, and the true nature of its maladies is often only a conjecture. But the cystoscope, handled by an expert, and aided by x-ray, opens the system and transforms conjectures into definite diagnoses. Failure to obtain a cystoscopic diagnosis often leads to “confusion and deadly errors” (Pelouze).
