Zusammenfassung
Jeder Organismus enthält eine große Zahl von Stoffen, durch deren besondere chemische Struktur im Verein mit dem eigenartigen kolloidchemischen Aufbau des Protoplasmas die Leistungen der Zellen während des Lebens möglich gemacht werden. Einen Teil dieser Stoffe kann der Körper selbst bilden, andere müssen ihm mit der Nahrung zugeführt werden. Ihnen allen kommt eine besondere biologische Wirkung zu, sie werden deshalb in ihrer Gesamtheit als Wirkstoffe (Ergone) bezeichnet.
