Abstract
Treatment planning in cases of cancer of the esophagus and gastroesophageal junction depends on the extent of periesophageal spread. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of computed tomography in assessing the local and regional extension of cancer of the esophagus and gastroesophageal junction. To achieve this purpose we compared the preoperative CT findings with actual surgical observations in a series of 71 patients.
