Metastasis of Carcinoma of the Thoracic Esophagus to the Cervical Lymph Nodes
It is well known that lymph node metastasis of introthoracic esophageal carcinoma occur with high incidence, not only in the thoracic region but also in the abdominal region. The conventional treatment of intrathoracic esophageal carcinoma by dissection of the thoracic and abdominal lymph nodes is frequently followed by early relapse in the cervical lymph nodes . It is thus considered that the frequency of cervical lymph node metastasis from intrathoracic esophageal carcinoma is similar to that in the abdominal region.
