Abstract
The objectives of a therapeutic attack on trophoblastic tumours can be defined in order of priority. The first is total and permanent elimination of the tumour with the least possible risk to the life of the patient. Subsidiary objectives are the preservation of function of the affected organs, the prevention of infection and its consequences during treatment, the avoidance of drug toxicity and a short period of hospitalisation.
