Comparative Studies of Amphibian Cytoplasmic Virus Strains Isolated from the Leopard Frog, Bullfrog, and Newt

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Recent Results in Cancer Research ((RECENTCANCER,volume 1969))

Abstract

Alone among all the species of reptiles and amphibians, the leopard frog (Ranapipicns) has been the object of intensive virological investigations. The study of Ranapipiens, prompted by the frequent occurrence of inclusion-bearing kidney tumors in this species (1, 2), has already yielded at least two types of amphibian virus (3–6).

Supported in part by research grant AI2396 and training grant AI98, from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and by research grant CA-08737, from the National Cancer Institute.

Recipient of Research Career Award AI-1136 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
