Abstract

Aging is a normal and universal process; therefore, it is not a pathological condition but does predispose to many diseases. Over the years, we observed on the one hand a progressive decrease in birth indices and on the other an increase in life expectancy. The average length of life in Italy has increased to 78 years for women and to 71 years for men. In the world, 10% of the population is over 65 years old.
