Zusammenfassung
Die ständig zunehmende Erkenntnis von der Bedeutung des Wirkstoff-Hemmstoff-Antagonismus als kausalen Prinzips der Biochemie, Mikrobiologie und Chemotherapie hat die Aufmerksamkeit der Biologen umsomehr auf die physikalisch-chemischen Grundlagen dieses Prinzips gerichtet, als sich herausstellte, daß eine solche Analyse auch wertvolle Beiträge zur Aufklärung des Wesens der Enzymwirkungen selbst zu liefern vermag. Jeder Versuch, Einblicke in das Zustandekommen eines biologischen Antagonismus zu gewinnen, hat von der Vorstellung eines räumlichen Kontaktes zwischen dem durch einen Hemmstoff verdrängbaren Metaboliten und einem Protein auszugehen und muß daher die klassische, von Michaelis und Menten 1 formulierte Konzeption der Bildung dissoziabler Enzym-Substrat-Komplexe bei jeder Art von Enzymwirkung zur Grundlage weiterer Überlegungen machen, auch dann, wenn ein nichtenzymatischer Verdrängungsmechanismus vorliegt, wie im Falle der Konkurrenz verschiedener Ionen um den Platz an der Oberfläche adsorbierender Proteine 2.
