Abstract
Although the linear accelerator is a relative newcomer to the field of mega-voltage therapy it is, in our judgement, an important machine and possesses several features which are of particular value in clinical use. The 4 MeV set at Newcastle has been in operation for 3½ years and although some 1700 cases of malignant disease have now been treated, it is not possible yet to give any statistical record of the results, as we have no figures relating to more than three years survival.
