Abstract

The Basic Agreement between the labour market parties in Norway was established in 1935, and it has since then functioned as “The Constitution of Working Life” in the country. The Basic Agreement is revised every fourth year and it consists of three major parts: Part A regulates freedom of organization, negotiations, shop stewards etc.; Part B regulates cooperative matters like co-determination, works councils, department councils etc.; and to Part B belongs (since 1982) also a number of so-called Supplementary Agreements.

Revised: May 1991
