Zusammenfassung

Die Beurteilung physiologischer Hirngewebsveranderungen beim Altern sind einer groβen sUbjektiven und objektiven Variabilität unterworfen, und selbst die als typisch geltenden extrazellulären Amyloidablagerungen und neurona1en Veränderungen können nur bedingt als altersspezifisch angesehen werden. Die lange als sicher geltende Minderung des Hirngewichtes im Alter wurde relativiert zugunsten einer fehlenden42 oder nur geringen Gewichtsreduktion jenseits etwa des 60. Lebensjahres21. Dabei sollen verschiedene Hirnteile unterschiedlich schrumpfen. Ebenso wie diese Gewichtsreduktion ist auch ein allgemeiner Nervenzellverlust der GroBhirnrinde im Alter zumindest als eher gering anzusehen. Neuere stereologische Untersuchungen zeigen differente Ausfälle und besonders Gröβenabnahmen von Neuronen in unterschiedlichen Hirnregionen 13.40.
