Abstract
We present the picosecond time-resolved resonance Raman spectra of trans-4,4’-diphenylstilbene. Based on the solvent dependent transient Raman spectra, we suggest that dielectric stabilization of the S1 state controls the dynamics of the solute conformational relaxation, but solvent viscosity controls the final equilibrium geometry. We also present the first picosecond transient Raman two-dimensional correlation spectrum. The asynchronous correlation spectrum accentuates the subtle changes we observe in the time-resolved spectra.
