Abstract
The dispcrsion of surface phonons has been determined for a variety of alloy surfaces and adsorbate covered metal surfaces using electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) with a resolution between 16 and 45 cm−1. In this paper, the ability to derive structural information from knowledge of vibrational properties will be discussed.
