Die Bedeutung epidemiologischer Faktoren in der Pathogenese des Glaukomschadens

Zusammenfassung

Das Offenwinkelglaukom (OWG), das mehr Fragen aufwirft, als Antworten gefunden werden können, verwirrt weiterhin Kliniker und Forscher. Selbst die Definition verändert sich: vor 2 Jahrzehnten beruhte die Definition des OWG auf 3 getrennten Befunden (glaukomatöse Sehnervenfaserschädigung, die sich in einem glaukomatösen Gesichtsfelddefekt ausdrückt, während der intraokulare Druck (IOD) erhöht ist). Bei der später leicht veränderten Definition war nicht mehr ein erhöhter IOD erforderlich, sondern statt dessen „IOD-Werte, die vom betroffenen Auge nicht toleriert werden“ [1] oder sogar noch unspezifischer „ein für die Aufrechterhaltung der Gesundheit des Auges zu hoher IOD“ [2]. Diese Definitionen waren jedoch hinsichsichtlich des Druckniveaus und dessen Bestimmung unklar.
