Monte Carlo Study of the Random Potts Model
The three-state Potts model in three dimensions is investigated by use of a Monte Carlo simulation. The order-parameter distribution is examined to clarify the order of the phase transition. The Monte Carlo renormalization group method and the finite-size scaling analysis are used to study the critical properties of the antiferromagnetic Potts model. We also treat the system of a random mixture of the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic couplings, and discuss the phase diagram of this model.
